Honduras Finca Los Amigos Yellow Pacas
Bright and Sweet like Tangerine Layered with Velvety Nougat and Cocoa Nibs
At a local cooperative meeting, we interviewed several farmers to learn more. They are genuine people doing their best, even with the odds stacked against them.
But it was David Lopez that made an impression with his dedication and selflessness.
We visited David’s beautiful farm, Finca Los Amigos.
David's farm, Finca Los Amigos, is beautiful. Under rainforest canopy, he grows several coffee varieties. A special selection of Catuai caught our attention.
They were not doing well, and David was about to rip them out. Instead, we committed to help him restore them.
With that pledge, David Lopez proved his farming mettle with a comeback for the ages. Our friend Benjamin Paz jumped in, offering seeds and guidance with the backing of his community.
A decade later Finca Los Amigos has doubled its farming acreage with new varieties and plots. From the original Catuai to Parainema, Icatu, Pacas, Bourbon and even Geisha!
